Please view the post in the Forum Support forum, it has a poll about making a dark mode (i.e. dark color screens instead of bright white) available. This can be of interest for those that access the forums from a mobile device as dark screens use less battery power. But we need to know whether enough people want this before investing the time to install an extra mode.

Would anyone out there know of the part number or better yet, a supplier, for the bronze bushing pressed into the pedal arm that pivots on the shaft attached to the frame and bell housing on a series 50 1937 LaSalle?  Thanks, Lou

The part number is 402 448.  The same bushing was used in Series 50 and 60 from 1935 to 38, and in '38 commercial chassis vehicles.

If you can't find one as a Cadillac part, a good parts man might be able to match it with a bushing used on another model or make of car.  Also, some king pin bushings are very similar and there may be one that would match.

Another solution is MSC (http://www.mscdirect.com/browse/tn/Motion-Control-Fluid-Power/Sleeve-Bearings?searchterm=bronze+bushing&navid=4287924442) a company which sells many sizes of bronze bushings.  Maybe one would fit.  You'd have to drill a hole in it for the grease fitting

After measuring the diameter of the shaft, the easiest solution might be to take the pedal, with the old bushing if you have it, to a machine shop and have them make a new bushing on a lathe and press it in for you.

I appreciate the part number and it will give me a starting point for my search.  I was hoping to find an available replacement part, thinking they have worn out for many a car of this era.  If anyone comes across a source, please let me know.

Thanks for the info,  ;D

In all my years I have never seen these bushes advertised Lou. Much quicker to get the local machine shop to make a new one as Jay said.
