Man that thing is gorgeous, I wish my 46 was that nice.
When a Doctor "saves a Life" it does not necessarily mean that that life will ever be the same as it was, but he still saved it. My 46 may not be as it was but it is still alive.

Thanx. I was coming apart and going back together nice until one of the low speed jets pulled a thread with it. I have to either find a bowl cover or a method to repair it accurately.
Wish me luck.

Here is a couple pictures of her after the clean up. I haven't bolted the sections together yet as I still have to work out the issue with the bad threads on the bowl cover where the low speed jet pulled them.
I seriously considered a full super duper detailed restoration on the carb but then it would be out of place on a vehicle that will not receive a full restoration for quite some time. Clean, and function will suffice.
Stop drooling... :)
I also found these nice little parts lists with original pricing on the internet. Pretty cool, eh?

I have been away for quite some time so I thought I would share what has happened since my last update.

The carburetor has been finish and reinstalled on the car. The fuel pump and resevoir has been pulled, cleaned and reinstalled. When I say "cleaned" I mean I had to wipe it dry with a towel and reinstall it with new gaskets.

Pulled, cleaned and replaced the hood and trunk latches and hinges.

I've ordered door and trunk seal as the ones on the car are dried up and don't seal well.

I need to find a passenger side windshield. I've seen a few NOS of 2 colors and clear but they stick out like a sore thumb. Gary, I will be bugging you to see if you have one soon. I found the seal for the windshield online.

Once that's installed, I will install the door and trunk seal, register and insure her, get a fire extinquisher that's more appropriate and drive.

There had been a couple shows near my house sponsored by my local chapter but prior obligations prevented me from attending. Bummer!

Just go to a glass shop and they can cut one.

I'm back!!!

This has to have been the craziest year ever. But we have survived and now it's time to get back on this awesome flathead V8 powered steering sofa. My wife has coined it the car that rides like her couch. Comfy, cozy and smooth.

Of course it's only been around the block a few time. Before I take her too far, I will have to enlist the expertise of a professional. Granted, I am extraordinarily mechanically inclined, I haven't worked on a vehicle at this level since the high-school years and I'm no longer a spring chicken. I've got a great source for information and guidance (all of you and I thank you profusely), an excellent source for parts (again-all of you and your shared links) and a determination instilled by my dad and 22 years of service motivation.

So here's the skinny... our baby has been slightly neglected in that she's been sitting for the past year waiting for all the hoopla to subside. I will now seek the other parts I need to finish the project and render her fully functional. I have no intention of performing any unnecessary cosmetic service.

I have a couple questions...

There is a seal between the rear fenders and the body. This seal extends into the door where the fender attaches to the door. It appears a tad brittle. It also extends above the body as if it were expanded and pushed up. Is this correct? Is there a source for this product someone can share?

Forgive the surface rust... the garage and car cover were apparently not adequate enough to keep the CA marine layer from getting to her. I may have to do the chrome and clear the paint to protect it from further deterioration.

James, the round material you see is welting and it has a flat area about 2 inches wide which forms a gasket and stops leaks and prevents squeaking. It is readily available on several web sites by the foot and not very costly.

Glad to see you are going forward with your car. Will you consider taking it to Las Vegas for the Grand National in mid April?  I am hoping to take my 1942 and it would be fun to have another one there. You could show it as a survivor.

Hey Gary!,

Vegas in April. You know what? I just might do that. If I don't have her dialed in enough to drive there, I'll trailer it and drive once we are there. I'm pretty sure we will though.

Got a couple questions for ya'. Remember me mentioning the washer tank assembly? Well, I cant find that email or thread. Can you share again which is correct? Any good starting point for the search would be greatly appreciated. When you plan your stay, share the info and we will find similar accommodations. And if ever there is an event in the San Diego / Orange County area, plan on staying at our home. We've got plenty of room and I've almost got both of my garages cleared out. Finally!!! :)

I'm going to refer to the service books, but someone told me the washer tank, wipers, antennae and carb are all on the same vacuum system. Does this make sense to you?

Hope you had an awesome Thanksgiving.

As for the shooting thing... I might get in on that. Although, I prefer long range targets. See...
