My father owned a 1938 LaSalle convertible(black) coming out of the Marines after WWII. This would've been in the later 1940s. It was likely titled in W.Va.  I have no VIN, license number, DL #, insurance info, etc.
He traded it in to a Wheeling, W.Va lot on a 1940 LaSalle sedan due to starting a family. How would I go about finding this 1938 car. He later moved to Ohio but I don't think it ever became titled there.
*****adding pics. The gentlemen standing next to the car was a friend he gave a ride to Clarion,PA area.   Other pics seems to show a mismatched headlight bucket set. I recall he said he installed a gas heater under the passenger seat? He also stated that with either this 38 or his later 1940 4DR he swapped the engine with a surplus tank engine shipped from Chicago.  The windshield was cracked and replaced once due to mom's head hitting it when abruptly stopping.
Thank you for any feedback.

It would be difficult enough in your country with a paper trail but without a serial number I don't know how you would even start?  When you consider production numbers and the amount gone to the wreaking yard the chances of your dads surviving is very remote.

Hello Speece

Glad to read you are interested in finding your father's 1938 LaSalle 5067.  Any family pictures with the prize?  I would suggest that you become a Cadillac & LaSalle Club member.  Then place an ad in all of the CLC Northeastern Region Chapters.  Someone may recall the automobile.  I would also recommend that you make contact with the AACA because the car may have been seen at Hershey in the last 60 years.

Speece, First thing is to figure out what it was? Was it a 4 door convertible or a 2 door convertible called a convertible coupe. Was it original color, or a repaint?

I wish you luck I have been searching for historical records of my cars also and mostly run into dead ends

A couple of the pictures show that the paint was pretty good. In the first picture, I think all that was missing was the headlamp ring on the right side. He had installed a "regular" or more modern radio antennae as the car originally came with a running board antennae.

He may have done this to see if he could improve radio reception. As I understand it (with no intent of any derogatory comment), the state of West Virginia was indeed, "The Mountain State" in that era. Before I-64 was finished going up Sandstone mountain near Beckley, my son drove over US 60 from the "end" of the Interstate to Charleston, and it took him three hours on that two lane road.

So, a lot of that beautiful state is "up and down."

It sounds as if your father really enjoyed owning a LaSalle. Good luck in your quest.
