Does anyone have experience on carburetor exchange in El Monte Ca? Good, bad? Or if you have used their products your comments. Thanx Frank

I had them rebuild my Rochester on my 57 in the fall of 2015.  When I got it back it seems it was not tuned to my engine.  I am not sure if that was my messing with it or their setting wrong. After lots of searching I found a article on the set screws and set them back to factory and it idles great.  I am having a little occasional hesitation accelerating from a stop (starts to go then starts to die and then picks back up and off you go).  I have not dig into the problem much. There are threads on the forum and online about possible causes,  I do not think the rebuild alone is the root.

They offered to work on the adjustments if I would bring the car in, but the couple hour drive in LA Traffic was not appealing.  I felt their offer was sincere.  I did lots of searching before and I finally just went someone in state because reading reviews almost paralyzed me.

I bet if you advance your timing about 2 degrees more, that pesty hesitation will completely disappear!

It was explained to me that because of the latest gasoline formulas we have here on the west coast, some engines will stumble from running too lean others won't be affected [Don't know why].
It's the amount of  ethanol  [alcohol] that is added to the gas  that makes  the stumble when taking off from a signal for instance.
I had experienced this with my 55' Bel-Air.  By installing bigger main jets the problem went away.

Chris is correct, 10% ethanol fuel usually requires a mixture increase of 10% to get the best or better performance. My 63 responded very well to a 10% richer mixture.

There was a known stumbling issue with Rochester carburetors in 1957.  One bulletin outlined a few checks, but the instructions stated that in most cases, in reports of stumbling on 1957 cars, to replace the carburetor with a Carter and to return the Rochester.

Walter Youshock can explain in further detail as the details of what he told me are stored somewhere in my foggy memory bank.

Starting in June of '57, Carter AFBS were mixed into production along with the Rochester.  The Serviceman bulletins have about a dozen adjustments for the Rochester from deepening the accelerator pump well slot to float adjustments to adding vent holes in the top and even changing the choke spring.  One basically says if all that fails, swap it with a Carter.
