Can anyone tell me what the body number 84 on the id tag mean on a 1939 cadillac 60s.

Usually means that's just the number its coming off the body production line.

I don't know '39s, but in '49 that would mean it's the xxth of that particular model '39.  In this case it would mean the 84th 1939 60S.
