Hi all I'm rebuilding a 62 390 engine and started doing the oil pump with a rebuild kit from caddy Daddy just wondering if anyone has done this before as the pump gears don't spin completely freely as if one is nicking the side wall of the pump in places.would that be normal? Any help would be awesome.thanks

These pumps should spin with no obstructions.

Sounds like it needs pulling to pieces, as in taking the bottom plate off and inspecting the teeth.
