After wasting a month trying to buy a car from a member of another Cadillac forum it seems I am back to square one. I don't live in the USA so if that fills you with dread and worry then probably best not to contact me... Happy to facetime or some other video app which suits to see the car in person if I can't get to your location that easily.

I have all the transport / shipping organised and cash waiting for the right car.

So looking for a 4 door car( no Coupes ) which needs to be in good running order. The interior needs to be in original style no rips etc (as difficult to get that work done here), just a nice car with no issues. Can't afford the low miles originals like the ones for sale from Vince Taliano, can only dream about that for the moment... Would love a fleetwood but one I was trying to buy was a series 62, no air or electric windows etc. Its the condition that's important to me.

Hope somebody is looking to buy something new and wants to pass on a nice car at a reasonable price? I'm now 57 and time is running out for me to at last get a Cadillac ;)

Thanks and my fingers are now permanently crossed :)

Scott, I have more sedans than I need for sure, but I can't bring myself to let one go even though I should. I have committed the Cardinal sin of becoming emotionally attached. Obviously your location is a hindrance to your purchase as well as to someone who might think about selling, if you lived 20 miles away from me and showed up at my door with a bunch of cash it would be hard to say no. Have you considered a vacation to the States, spend 7 to 10 days looking in person and hands on,  someone will sell you a car I am sure.

If thats the 61 in Belmont Mass then it needs much to much work doing. I'm looking for something to maintain not restore, but thanks for the heads up ;)

If not can you please send/post link as I've seen that ebay sometimes hides cars from non us buyers at times, no idea why  ???

Saw a 62 Fleetwood in the car corral at Hershey today. Pompeiian red with red leather interior. Would be a decent driver. I don't have the contact information on it but maybe someone else does.

I don't follow sedans, but I saw nice '64 this week on Proxybid.  Don't recall if in MN or GAA @ NC.   Seek and ye shall find - a nice one.

I always find it pays to open a dialog and ask the first question. "Do you mind bidders outside the USA"  Most will dismiss buyers from other countries unless you can give the impression one is serious.

Joining the CLC if you’re not already a member,  and mentioning that might help. With the occasional  exception over the years, I have found CLC folks to be very honest, pleasant people to deal with. As a buyer or seller I  prefer to deal with members over non-members, and have gotten a great deal of information and advice from members during what started off as a simple transaction.

Guy selling car on ebay removed it, maybe sold ? but I contacted him via Hemmings when it was still live and its still there. No reply, did tell him was not from USA as I do with everyone. I'll just need to be patient and hope somebody wants to sell to me...

Steven- Vacaville CA in not far from me; if you are interested in pursuing it, I could help you out.  And I’m pretty familiar with these cars, having a very original one of my own, although mine is a whole lot more “unmolested” than this one.

Morning all, Vince thank you so much for the pics and info on that car, it's wonderful people are taking the time to offer help. Wish I had the cash for one of the cars you have up for sale !

Unfortunately buying a car that needs work to that level or a big restoration job is something I can't take on, the availability of people to do work on the car is very limited in the UK never mind Scotland. Getting and shipping parts will be very costly and difficult, so really only want a car which I can maintain, to be driven regularly.

David you are most kind to offer to go check it out, much appreciated  ;) and may take you up on that offer if I find something local to you.

It is so difficult to do this from afar, most people don't bother to get back to me if I contact them, like the guy on Hemmings for instance. Ad says he's a dealer which I thought would help, but no phone number or website. I gave him all my personal contact details and told him I had all transport arranged and so forth. No response and ad is still live.

I had hoped maybe buying from a member here would work, but so far no joy.

I'm sure something will turn up, or I'll need to save/find more cash for a top car, might be a while ! :'(

Thanks again

Steve, you may be perceiving more mental problems than are actually in front of you.  I have imported over 20 cars in the last 25 years, once or twice I have wondered if I would ever see the car or my money but they all came through. Wanting a car in perfect original condition is admirable but they will be the most expensive. You are not going to find the majority without needing to do some work to them.
You also sell the UK a little short, I'm from the west country (Bristol) and we are tripping over firms here that specialize in American car restorations, I have done dozens myself, for myself and other people. I can't believe there are no upholstery shops in Glasgow or paint shops willing to take your money.
Seating material for these 60s cars is available and I have trimmed many. Consider £500 for a front seat and weigh this against how much cheaper the car is because of it's faults and one can really pickup a bargain.  I bought a 59 with trashed interior 15 years back for 10K, once the interior was redone the car has been changing hands in the 20 to 30K mark and just as a side note I wish I was 57 again.  All I'm saying is don't dismiss all that aren't perfect.

Steve, I've lived in the south of England and know the deal there. I don't expect to get a perfect car, just one which has not been neglected IMHO. If you have been happy to buy cars that need work and its all been plain sailing then I'm pleased it all worked out, but it's just not for me ;)

The car in the condition I want is available, just not so easy to find and buy. I contacted the guy selling the 61 again yesterday, still no reply ! The guy selling the other car on another forum had exactly what I wanted, I tried hard for more than a month to buy it, but he just made no effort to provide even the basic info I needed, just wanted me to send him the money, so I had to give up.

It'll be worth it in the end, just frustrating at the moment, and Vince thank you again, will keep an eye on that to see the pics when he posts them.

Wee update since this morning, Hemmings guy got back to me so will see how it goes.

Had a chat with Dave who is selling what I was looking for on the for sale part of the forum. I had to say no to the car as it's green, everything else was right. Maybe folks will think I'm mad  :-X  but I just can't buy a green car even if it's as good as this one clearly is.

Anyone else thinking of selling one similar to Dave's car? let me know please...
