A friend here in Australia has the 41 Olds convertible sedan from the collection of the late Doug Houston.
He needs lenses for the rear compartment lights (on back of front seat) which have the same part number as those of a 1941 6229 convertible sedan.
Part number is 4101788 (group 33.5415 in my July 1949 Body Parts List Crank-n-Hope reprint) but I have no illustrations.
Does anyone have a pair of lenses?
Thanks - Peter

Peter, one of my old friends who has now passed away bought a rusted out '41 6229 almost just for these lenses and bezels. Keep looking in the Buick Forum as well. You might be able to have someone with at least one make the bezel from a 3-D printer out of plastic. You could probably make the lenses as well.

Thanks Barry. I figured they would be hard to get, but I appreciate your suggestions.

Hi Peter,
I feel very confident that the lenses are the same in all 1940 & 41 C body cars. I'm surprised that Doug would not have replaced those years ago when they probably were available from GM. Maybe they were in his parts collection?? Barry, what happened to all of his parts? I also seem to remember they were reproduced years ago. Again Barry, how's your memory on that one? There was a big Buick vendor in Ohio?? Are they still around??
Good Luck, Bob

I'd like to thank Barry and Bob for their suggestions, and this forum. The lenses have indeed been reproduced by Bob's Automobilia and are still in stock. My friend discovered this on the Buick Club forum, also suggested here. Many thanks again for your assistance.

Bob, I was only in the garage once, in 1965. Paul Schinnerer had come for Carnival of Cars and was visiting Doug as well. All we did was "look." I remember the Olds was way back in a corner, next to, I believe, the 1942 Series 67. The '39 V-16 coupe was across from them. Everything was "dim" and hard to see. I was a lot skinnier then and when we were in his folk's basement, I had to suck my gut in to move between all the console radios and old TVs. I remember one of the TVs was the one that you watched in a mirror on the top at an angle.

It would have been a real treat to have been able to check out all his parts. He was definitely, one of a kind. Like pulling up to the entrance of the Speedway Motel in the 1941 Series 62 coupe with AC, windows rolled up (naturally) and sweating like nobodies business. (Well, it WAS an A/C car wasn't it?)
