Yes, a new windshield makes a "BIG" difference.
It's amazing -- almost like there is nothing in front of
you but air.  All of those small minute scratches and
chips are gone now!

I've been there with replacements done on several of
my older cars.

Enjoy!

I totally agree.

When I replaced the glass in my Ranchero, I thought there was no glass in there.   The old screen was so bad, it probably would have classed the vehicle as being unroadworthy.

BUT, whatever you do, immediately replace the windscreen wiper blades with new ones.   Don't want to start scratching the new glass.

When I replaced the cracked w'shield on the '73 Caribou I wanted one without the embedded antenna since the car had a factory antenna on the fender.  My glass man could find embedded antenna w'shields easily but it took him a long time to finally come up with one without the antenna.  He wanted me to just put the embedded type in and not hook it up  ;D  no way.

And the antennae wires were hooked up, I now get some radio reception between the trees.
Wipers were replaced last year, used once when I got caught in the rain.
The drivers side wiper is too high, I'm sure the procedure for lowering it a bit is in my shop
or body manual.

Laurie,

For future (if ever, as this windshield should last a lifetime), you have to watch the windshield replacement people because they never get the wipers aligned right (nor do they ever try).  Or otherwise demonstrate proper operation before they start and withhold payment until you are satisfied after they are finished.  On daily drivers and otherwise, I never let them remove the wipers to replace a windshield.

My windshields are original and they are OK, nice to know that they remain available.

Yay, Laurie!
A new windshield certainly provides a new outlook on life, LOL!

Hi Laurie.  It's a very easy fix to "lower" that wiper.  The wiper arm
has to be pulled off from the "post" where it sits.  Sometimes you
need a special tool, other times there is a slot on the arm that you
have to pry out to make it let go.  Not sure whixh type are on a '70.

There are "teeth" on the arm and on the stud it sits on.  It's just a
matter of moving the arm a notch or two lower on that stud.

If you're in doubt Michael can move it in 5 minutes for you.

Windshields are expendable, like tires.  More than one car here is
on the third windshield.  My experience is windshield antennas do
a lousy job, esp with a brand O engine and the ignition so close.
AND, I found they interfere with EZPass/Ipass placed too close.
