Screen size when looking at or posting on a thread here

I have a problem/question for anyone here.
I've noticed when I go to make a post here,  that sometimes the screen will show up with a narrow column, which is great, I can see it just fine.

But at other times the screen is showing up really wide  and I will have to shrink it down to be able to see it all, or keep shifting the screen from side to side.

And if I turn the phone sideways,  then the posting screen is so narrow I can't see it.

Is there a setting  I'm not seeing  on my account set up here, or is this a problem with my phone?

Because it will happen randomly,  and I thought perhaps it had something to do with the type of equipment that the previous poster was using. If someone has used a computer versus someone who has used a phone maybe.  If they had used a computer then that sets the format for the next post?
I have no idea, I'm lost here.

I'm a newbie to this phone business so I'm still learning this stuff.

My thanks to anyone who can set me straight here.

I think it's because someone posted a link (really long one) or a really large picture (not sized right) in that thread.

Very bothersome for sure!

I haven't had a computer since 2007.
I'm using a new phone and the screen size leaves a lot to be desired.

But your post on this thread seems to be the same size as my original one. I don't have a problem right now.

But who knows what the next one will show up like.

I just thought it might be a setting I over looked when I signed up here.

So I'm not the only one that has had this problem then?

EDIT:
I just posted on a different thread and noticed it had several pictures in it  that were very large.  The screen size was off like I was asking about on here,  so  I think you're right about that.
Too bad that there isn't anything that can done to make it easier to see on a phone.

Thanks for the answers.

Screen size and the awful typing on a phone are why I do almost all my reading, research and conversing via the computer.

This platform unfortunately doesn't have an auto-resizing program resulting in having to scroll L>R to read posts when a large image is posted in a given page. It's not just photos either- long links have the same effect.

When I've asked if anything could be done I was told it would require a different forum platform which would be more costly.

Yeah, I don't have much choice,  I'm not going to buy a computer when almost all the stuff you can do on a computer you can do on a phone.
I'm not rich, and either one was
going to cost a fortune, and the phone was in this day and age, a necessity, so that's what I'm stuck with.

But I've made several very long posts on here and have not had that happen,  until someone else has posted afterwards and I'm guessing they used a computer instead of a phone.
It's no biggie,  just annoying,  and I wondered if maybe there was something I could do on my end to compensate for it.
I'll learn to live with it. What choice do I have,  right?

Lengthy posts will not do it.

Only when a long link or a large image is pasted directly in the post. Uploaded images using the attachment feature will not.

Thanks Eric.
That explains that . Now I just need to get a magnifying glass to read those posts.
