I am the lucky owner of a 1960 Convertible Series 62 with 39,000 original miles as of today and need a Cadillac mechanic in my area that knows these types of cars. I am in Winston Salem, NC. If you know of anyone that has a proven track record please let me know.

Thank you

Wow. That’s an amazing find.
I don’t have any recommendations for you but just wanted to welcome you to the message board.
There’s probably a CLC chapter in your area so you should get in touch with them and try to get some info.

Good luck with your car!

Hello Scott,

If you navigate your web browser to the home page of the Cadillac LaSalle Club

you can find a list of regional clubs and special-interest chapters.  I believe there are a couple in your neck of the woods.  Contacting someone in those groups may get you a reference to a good mechanic for your '60.

Thank you Brain. It took almost a year and a half to finally get the price right so I could own this piece of history. I feel lucky to be apart of this wonderful club and I will look to the local level within the club. If you make it this way one day look me up.

Thank you Christopher for your time. I will look this evening on the local level.

Be very careful.  There are many posts on this forum about "mechanics" and their no brainer mistakes.  Mechanical work on a 1960 Cadillac is more of a restoration than a repair.  Get references from happy customers who own similar era Cadillacs (1956-64) and have mechanical knowledge.  Speak to the actual mechanic who will be working on your car, not the shop owner skilled in customer communications.  I bought my 1970 Cadillac in 2005 with the idea that like my regular daily drivers someone else would work on it.  Well there was no one out there - they all cut corners and generally did a terrible job.  I became my own best mechanic and I enjoy it.  Because it is so bad out there I even got my own tire machine and balance machine.

Please post some pics of your car and describe what you need done. We may be able to help. What colors on the car ?
Also get a 1959 Cadillac shop manual and the 1960 supplement.  You will be amazed and what you can learn by just reading through these informative books.

What options does your car have ? Air conditioning, cruise, headlight dimming?

1960 is a fantastic year and a great running car.
