Jason, did no one take up the task of a 63-64 manual (didn't check to see).
You sound like you could have been one of the guys on that peer review team.
Steve, I told Bill Anderson I would better server the effort as a reviewer or someone that could provide specifics. For example, I have over 20,000 pictures from the 50 parts cars, and told him that I would be more than happy to provide any information, pictures, etc I had at my disposal or could glean from my my parts inventory.   One of the things I have done over the years is put a lot of information on our 63/64 Cadillac Website Help Page (www.help.6364cadillac.com)  For example, if someone asks about tires, (which they did when they were putting the tire list together for the new judging manual, and asked me about the tires on 63/64's) I can simply point to our Help Page on original tires. I know for several years after I relinquished the mantle, there was no mention of anyone taking over the Class 20 (63/64) manual, but at the latest board meeting, Bill stated that he did have a new "volunteer!".  I do not know who that person is, but will be glad to share what I  know, what I have on file, and of course info we have at our website.   Whether it is the 59/60, 63/64 or other authenticity manual it needs to be a collaborative effort. As much as I think I know about the 63's & 64's, there is probably that much I don't know or have forgotten over the years!

My intent when I volunteered to assist with a 59/60 authenticity guide was to look at the previously compiled material and verify the existing and add to it with the help of people like Joe Puleo, Eric, Chuck and other people like George they have original cars.  It was always going to be a collaborative effort with many sources of info.

Since I originally spoke to Chuck about this I have acquired two other security companies and bought out my brother who was my partner in the two companies we owned together. This means my workload has increased about 400 percent and my time is extremely limited.

I would still be willing to contribute and do what I can but as far as being the lead person on this, I do not have the time to dedicate to it.

As far as I am concerned someone needs to contact the appropriate person in the CLC
and find out what they would like to see done here.  It’s really odd that with the popularity of the 59 Cadillac, this is still undone.

I hope whoever is doing the manual doesn’t lost the bolts as silver cad plated like I see so many restorations done that way incorrectly , the bolts should be yellow Cad plated not silver cad .

I just hope there is a manual in time for the 100th anniversary.

So do you know who is on the team, what input have they received from original car owners?

I have an unmolested car but no one has ever asked me anything. I made two errors in tossing the original spark plugs wires and battery cables.

As I remember, the reproduction spark plug wires from Lectric Ltd are correct and the battery cables I can still remember. The voltage regulator was wrapped in a black cloth mesh against the battery cable like a sleeve.

Other parts I had to replace I kept. Wish I had kept them all.

Well I will get the manual and for sure there will be errors. One error is assuming all cars are the same, well depends on the day of production. They did not stop the assembly line if they ran out of a particular part, they grabbed a backup part and kept going.

I ran into a problem with u-joints on my 1964 Olds 98 all the books stated they were one type of clip. Well guess what they were not and I had to measure them and get the ones that were on the car. Now some will say they replaced them maybe but all signs on the car said no and I bought the car from the original owner's wife. A pampered well kept 45,000 mile car. So most likely they used something else that day for some reason when assembling the car. I have not been doing this a long as some of the experts here but I have enough smarts to look at a car and with some experience to make an educated guess that may not  be proven but is most likely right.

Couple that with looking at many 1959 cars since I have picked up a few things. Too numerous to mention here. That's why I laugh when someone says all original except for the paint, or except for ...... you fill in the blank. It's either original or not, leave out the consumable items. That I guess is original but how many of those exist? Count them on 1 hand.

Hello George

I am grateful for your effort and commitment to provide a 5960 Cadillac Authenticity Manual. David, Brett, Brian, Ron and Eric have reached out to me to assist with completing this valuable text for our global CLC members.

This has been a decade long incomplete project for various reasons. The person accountable for the completion and distribution is Bill Anderson.

The only way that manual is going to get done is for a group of motivated and knowledgeable people to do it.  Seems most of the posters here fit that criteria, band together and make it happen.

Don’t forget the masking tape holding the body mounts to the frame so they don’t slide when the body came down on the frame .
