1969 Deville.   Does anyone know what the Blue wire from the headlight switch is powering?  In the picture, I have the grey instrument light wire, soldered to a short green wire that is connected to the Blue wire coming out of the headlight switch by a suitcase connector.

The blue wire is seen at the top of the second photo.  you can see the master work of whomever did this splice job.

I’m into this because I have no interior lights and just a very dim speedo light.

The lower footwell lights will come on if I ground them, but they won’t shut off, so obviously a ground issue somewhere.

I am working one issue at a time, I’m sure they are both related though.

I do have a shop manual and a Fisher body manual, but the schematic in the body manual is illegible, and the shop manual does not have any type of troubleshooting for these lights.

Ike it appears to me that you have a number of issues.

1. The solder connection looks to me to be a cold solder joint, this means it may not be making a good connection to all the wires.

2. Black wire has been cut.

3. Two wires near the back of the picture are not connected.

I do not have any schematics for this year car so cannot help you identify what the wires are suppose to be connected to.

Good luck

I have a 68. If they are similar to the 69's, one light blue wire goes to the Twilight Sentinel amplifier and the other goes to the dimmer switch, which is incorporated into the light switch assembly. Again, this is how a 68 is wired. Hopefully they are not too different.

Thanks. Yea everything works except the interior and the dash lights.   Just thought I would ask.

I’m not certain where the black wire goes yet

Thanks Jim
