It could be Harbor Mist Gray, Homer Gray, Silver French Gray or a 1939 Trinidad Gray.

Cadillac didn't make 50 shades of gray they made what seems like a hundred shades of gray.

I needed to match the color of the dash inset on my '49. A local auto paint shop was able to use their scanner on the paint with the results coming up on their computer.

Thanks Jim, that's how I would do it if I could....This car was at a Meadowbrook show, I don't know when....This is a beautiful example of a 1940 V16 Convertible Coupe.

I guess I'm just looking for an opinion as to what the color is.....my guess is Silver French Gray....I wish the restorer of this car or the owner would weigh in and tell me what it is.

I like the shade of gray and it is an unusual color in 1940 used for the entire car....I think it was really meant just for the top or the lower half of the car.....

Without the car, paint code from the car plate, or if it was resprayed something else contact the owner, impossible to tell from a photo and all guesses.
There's only so many colors for that year('40 - if original color), you can look them up on the paint chip chart.  If you find something you like, go to a paint shop and have them blend up some and spray out a few panels to decide.   They'll all vary in the light.

Mike,
With consideration to the comments above, the closest '40 color this approximates is Marquette Gray Code 5.

Thanks guys for weighing in....The more I looked at it, I think your right Ralph....

I just ordered 2 gallons of the Marquette Gray Code 5.

With the shipping it's darn near $500 per gallon !
