Don't forget that for 1954 Cadillac had a new body and the one for Chrysler was at its end. They had new bodies for 1955.

 True, I wonder what changes  Chrysler made to their frames, if any, and if it was due in any way to the Cadillac ad.

You're right Roger, I didn't think about that. Chrysler completely redesigned the Imperial in '55.

But the frames were essentially the same from '54 Imperial for '55.

It wasn't until 1957 the Imperials got an entirely new frame that looked extremely beefy with I believe 5 or 6 crossmembers.

This was the era that Imperials were known to have extremely heavy and solid frame/bodies weighing more than some Cadillacs and Lincoln's.
