01A would be first week of January build, 1111 is probably the body number of the total of your style of Fleetwood 75. 097?, maybe color of 97-Nutmeg Firemist. YMU-options of 6 way seat/power door locks/guidematic. 4KLY-possibly basic group 4-AM Radio rear control, A/C and ?? Maybe an E somewhere for tinted glass

Obviously your car is a 75 Sedan, so no partition wall or glass divider, code R. The interior trim is the same front and rear. You already have the 01A first week in January build date.

The P21 is Plant 21 on Piquette Avenue where the body was built, painted and trimmed by hand. Roughly five miles from Clark Street this plant (Fisher) also hand-built all the divisions' prototype bodies for Board approval prior to any of them going into production. It was these skills that made P21 the perfect place to have Fleetwood 75 limousine & sedans built.

When completed the bodies were pressure tested under a rainstorm to check for leaks then they were powered up so that the electrical systems were also checked. If they failed a test repair work was carried out and the body had to go back through and pass the test. Once ready they were taken to street level on one of two huge freight elevators, covered in a padded bag and driven up the Clark Street in a closed truck. It was all a very special, great care was taken with these bodies.

The 97 probably is Nutmeg Firemist although it's an unusual colour for such a formal car? Have you and searched under door/trunk seals, behind trunk cards to see if you can find the colour?

The 1111 is not a body number because there were only 880 sedans built? What initials are adjacent to this number?  The body number (I think) is the upper right row precursed by P21 or FWD.

The second row is usual TR for trim code?

Post a picture if you can. Paul

You are right. Leave the Protect-O-Plate out of it.

The car's colour and trim are on the Fisher Body plate and you've discovered the car was Sable Black code 10, The second 10 means it had no vinyl top, ie, upper and lower Sable Black.

The trim code, 719 is Medium Gray Dumont cloth which is a cord fabric, like Bedford cord. All cloth.

The FWD number 431 is the body number, ie, the 431st Fleetwood 75 Sedan body. Paul
