I am a little confused about this color that is supposed to be on my car. I purchased the car thinking that It had the original paint color of Vapour Gray. The VIN confirms the color it was born with. I decided to buy, from 2 different companies, the touch up paint and the color is not the same. The color that comes with the pen is the color that seems to be on the charts for that year. My question is that I have seen at least one other person on the internet with my color and they are saying that it is vapour gray. My car does not seem painted. Should I just accept the fact that the car was painted and the other person is under my same impression?

The paint code is not shown in the VIN; it's on the cowl tag under the hood, passenger side. The code is 15 for that color. Touch up paint is often a hit or miss proposition which can be due to the color being off if it had been repainted or the effects sun fading over time even if it wasn't. This is why touch up paint suppliers will often say there's no way to guarantee a perfect match.

If the color is too dark, you might be able to tint it yourself by adding a drop or two of white which should be available at most auto parts stores.

Thanks Eric, appreciate your input. I will give it a try and see what I come up iwht. I must say that things just more interesting, this picture is from a company that is selling a 1975 with a new fresh paint color of Vapour Gray. It is a far cry from my color.  :P

That Eldorado is a 1976. Color appear to be Academy Gray.

Bruce, I never received the Email but I think I have corrected the issue, let me know otherwise. Eric, yes the picture was presented as a 1975 with 1976 hubcaps. I will keep at it. Thanks.

The wheel covers are 1975. In 1976, they had black painted centers (body color on Bicentennial conv & Custom Biarritz). The amber front turn signal lenses is what led me to believe the car is a 1976 (same lenses on a 1975 are clear) but they may have been changed. Whatever the case, the color shown is not Vapor Gray.
