My seat will work all six ways now that some broken wires have been repaired in the kick panel and door hinge area.

However, the front and back motion is weak. So if you are sitting on the seat no movement. If you are off seat and seat is all the way back no movement (each time you can hear motor). If you nudge it forward it will move front and back fairly well. But once you go all the way back it gets "stuck" again. So that you have to nudge it forward to get it going.

Keep in mind it will go forward if  not all the way back. So back and forth fine it will go both ways until you are all the way back.

Now did not test the back and forth with me on it. Since when I tried it I think it was all the way back.

There are 3 motors in the manual. How many transmissions? So weak motor or transmission? Maybe a wire short occurs when seat is all the way back but I can hear the motor so not likely.

Do you have the 3 motor setup or the single motor with transmission. Cadillac switched to the three motor setup mid year and never put that in the manual. Not even the 60 supplement.

Not sure I will have to look.

The manual in the 1959 has a three motor set up on page 15-92 Figure 15-147. So do you have it backwards?

Did they switch from the three motor to the one motor? That would make more sense per the manual.

The one motor and transmission setup was used on GM 6 way seats for years afterthat. A fellow member got me a copy of the 61 manual that was  perfect and matched what I had. Check and see which one you have.

Single motor 6 way pictures. Often a problem with old dry grease locking them up.

So, if I have one motor and it moves with ease the other 4 ways and does move the back and forward as I stated above. I would say the transmission might be the culprit and most likely needs a good cleaning and lubrication.

The seat does move well back and forth once it goes, so the cable must be OK.Then the track might need some cleaning and lubrication too.

Probably in 1960 would be my guess, just a matter of me getting to it.

As I age my desire to get to things has diminished, but I will get to it.

Also thanks for the great photos Carl.

I took a look and it appears I have one motor and one transmission. So the 1960 looks like the 1961 above.
