G'day all,

Some time ago, I recall there being a discussion on the reference to either the No. 1, or the letter l  or I with regards to the use of the number or letter in the list of fitted Accessories from the Factory.

Can anyone recall it, as I found an article that might help regarding what it means.  It was a long time ago, something like 3 to 5 years ago.

Thanks,

Bruce. >:D

Hi Bruce,
I think the final agreement was that it was for stereo holes to be punched  at the rear.  So, it should never  be on a 1965 or earlier car. I don't know if it appeared on later than 1970.

I was going through the Ordering Procedure for the 1972 Cadillac, and it made mention of the I and l being for Remote Control Right Side door mirror.

This is from the 1972 Cadillac Optional Specifications
Page 3.  Right Side Remote Control Mirror - Code "l" (Printed as a letter l, but without the top and bottom bits.   Just a vertical line)
Code "I" has been assigned to this popular option to eliminate duplicate codes.   The availability of this option remains the same - standard on Fleetwood "75" and optional on all other body styles.

I remember there being a lot of discussion back and forth arguing as to whether it was a No 1, or a letter I.   But, the printing shows a single vertical line as either a 1 without the top bit, or a capital I without the top and bottom bits.

HI Bruce,
restrict  this discussion to 1966 to 1970 cars.

Can't do that as only allows decades, not part decades.

But, I did it to cover just '70's
