In January 1969, Ron Van Gelderen, along with his wife Sherie, hosted the new region's first meeting. On that cold but sunny day, Ron's neighborhood was transformed into an Apalachin, New York scene circa 1957 when Mafia bosses from all over arrived in their Cadillacs for a historic sit down. Unlike the Apalachin get-together, the vintage cars did not cause suspicion in McLean, VA resulting in the arrival of the State Police at the residence. Below are the attendees, the Potomac Region's founding members and the classic vehicles they drove to the historic meeting.

Potomac is a very good regional group.  Although I don't live in its area and am not a member, I receive their online newsletter.  They have many great activities and meetings.

Congratulations.

I was a member back in the mid-late 80s when I lived in the area and was starting on my '59 Fleetwood. Seemed like the dark ages for the region  compared to how vibrant it is now, as there wasn't much going on in terms of activities.

We are rocking it over here at the Potomac Region. So many activities over the years, monumental car shows and Automobilia auction over the years, spectacular fellowship, monthly newsletter, well attended monthly meetings, dinners & picnic, great activities for all to attend. Many reasons to join our region so come along and join us !
