1960s '66 Eldorado new old top imstalled

A quick question regarding a recently installed convertible top of my friend's '66 Eldorado.
The top was new old stock. Age, probably 20 years old. A local.specialist put the top on. He also fabricated the rear part as that was missing.
However, water comes in at the rear. I am not sure if there should be a seal or something, but I don't think so. I believe  the top material should be tight against the body at the rear eliminating the possibility of water entering.
Is this a case of a badly installed top, or just a bad top?
The guy who installed it, put a plastic rear window in instead of the original glass window.

Another question. The weatherstrip between the header and the windshield frane is missing. I ordered that from Rubber the right way. But how is it attached? Thanks in advance.

Well, I would not especially be proud with the rear installation. Maybe the old roof could not prevent that.
Anyway, water can go between the roof and the molding. To prevents water intrusion into the car, there is a gutter below the attachement of the roof to the body. If the gutter is gone (usually by rust), it's time to improvise something.
I'm not sure about the front weatherstrip; usually it's glued to its support.

Definitely a poorly fitted top.

I would agree with Roger that you need to look at the drain.

Pictured is a drain in a '60 Convertible.   As you can see, it is totally rusted away.   The white painted strip above the trunk torsion bars is part of the drain.

In 1971 they changed to the fabric drain, which in itself can degrade over time.

To look for your own drain, you have to climb inside the trunk, and get your dead right up and over the rear axle hump to see it.   Be prepared for a horrible shock at what you find.
