1950s '55 Eldorado Replacement Top Material.

Hi all,

I need a replacement convertible top for my '55 Eldo.

Should it be Haartz Pinpoint Vinyl or Haartz Stayfast Canvas and how can I tell what I've got fitted already?

One will look like molded plastic.  The other will be a heavy real canvas.
I would recommend the stayfast canvas.  It's about double in price but will last longer. 

FYI.  If you are doing a show vehicle yeah don't go with the common stuff.  Find the closest to the original.

I just happen to use my convertible and like to have something durable.

The correct material for a '55 Eldorado would be pinpoint
nylon, not canvas.  Originally, on early models, Orlon
was used due to the almost striking translucent properties of the material.  However, it had durability issues from sun and weather and due to many customer complaints that material was changed to pinpoint nylon early in the production run.

If you choose canvas material be prepared for a deduction if you have the car judged.  I have the nylon product on my '55 Eldorado and am quite happy with the look.
