Good afternoon,

I'm curious about the color combination on our '39 LaSalle. I know it isn't stock. The car was originally painted black.

Also can anyone ID the car for me? I purchased it from a dealer in Philly, but the car may have lived in New York, the City or somewhere in New York state. Possibly a Club members?

I looked up the 1939 colors in the authenticity manual. You are right, this car does not have a factory color combination. Lasalle did not come with a two tone gray metallic color scheme in 1939.

However, Lasalle offered a 1939 color called Silver French Gray iridescent (metallic). I have seen several 39 Lasalles in this color and it is very similar to the bottom color on your car. (This color was paired with Monterey Blue iridescent for a two tone in 1939).

So you do not have a factory original color scheme but it is period appropriate.
