I replaced all speakers in my 76' eldorado...this part was hanging after I removed the backseat. Does anyone know what it is and where it should sit or be mounted?

I don't currently recall its official name but those are fiber optic lines that run to the tail lights to monitor that the lights are working, same setup that is on the fenders for headlights and turn signals.  On the hard tops its above the back window.  Convertible it kinda sits on the top of the seat back.

That is the fiber optic indicator for your tail and brake lights.  It fastens, as TJ indicated, to the top middle of your rear seat.

How hard was it to find speakers to fit?  Or were they OE style?   When I did mine many years ago now I remember it being very difficult to find speakers that were shallow enough to fit back there and sounded decent.   if I had known how bad a location that is for sound quality I would not have worried so much.  Top up you are kinda shooting into the trunk echo chamber or kinda bouncing around several times before getting to you or with the top down they are mostly covered so better to spend the effort finding decent speakers for the front which also have size and depth limitations.

These "stalks" are screwed to the top of the back of the back seat, and are usually destroyed by people either sitting on them, or incorrectly fitting the Hard Boots for the Convertible Top when it is down.

You are very lucky to find it in such good condition, as most times the attachment lugs have been completely broken off.

I had to make up a new one out of steel, and created a slotted mechanism to retain the part if I needed to access the back seat.   This also assists me in operating the Hard Boot.   I used a stripped-down Coupe Monitor to get the guts, and made my steel replacement to fit.

CAUTION.   Whatever you do, DO NOT CUT the Fibre Optic lines, as if you do, you WILL destroy them.   They cannot be joined without losing operational ability.   I know from experience.
