It depends on the condition of the car, it was an aftermarket conversion.

The base 89 CDV could range anywhere from $ 1,500 to $ 10,000 or more with low mileage and good condition.

Id tack on 5 to 10 grand for the convertible conversion IF they did a good (correct) job on it.

When all is said and done it is up to a professional appraiser to determine the value.

All 89 Cadillac convertibles were aftermarket conversions, and their quality can very dramatically. I have seen the odd one, and of those, they range from junk to well engineered conversions.

Because of this values can vary from low as a well used hardtop to that of a well preserved low mileage example with a slight premium for a well engineered and executed top.

As Porter said, this car will have to be proffessionally appraised to find a real workable value. Although, there are the people that will pay far above the real value for a tarted up example that presents well. These really adversly affect the real values as perceived by the general public.

Personally, I would not be willing to pay any premium for a non-factory system. Parts can be near impossible to find when needed and most times if the top fabric has to be changed, it must be custom made by a specialized shop that has the expertise to do it, greatly increasing the cost.

I was generous with the value of the convertible conversion, as Mike pointed out the premium could be very little if any.

Guess Ive been beaten around the head looking at the premium factory convertibles get over the hardtops.

Some of the aftermarket conversions look strange, the last generation Eldorado conversions look strange to me. Somebody paid big dollars for the conversion.

The factory convertibles are troublesome enough.
