Regarding the division window in a 1941 60 Special and the wood accross the top, where the window rests after it is raised, I have a question:  WHAT MATERIAL IS SUPPOSED TO BE ATTACHED TO THE WOOD, FELT OR A RUBBER PAD, OR WHAT? I must confess that I dont remember exactly how mine was when removing everything. As I recall after taking out the headliner, there was a rotted weatherstrip-like rubber pad attached to the wood, which I scraped out and temporialy replaced with gray construction foam insulation until installing the new interior. My "before" photos of the headliner give no indication of what may be between the headliner material and the wood. (Also posting in Tech section) Thanks in advance, VP

My typo in Subject line, should read "1941" instead of "1940", sorry bout that.

I have one of the 41 - 60SF cars, but unfortunately, the headliner has never been out. I got the car in 1956, and it had pretty well been trough the wringer, but the padding that you speak of was  still soft, and probably still is. This suggests felt to me. It would certainly be a good replacement. Felt can be had in all sorts of hardnesses. Yiou could probably use silicone foam rubber, but I think Id favor the felt.

Appreiate the info, Doug, that was one of the suggestions from my upholsterer also. Thanks again.

Virgil,
Recently someone sold a division window on E-bay. He said it came out of a 1940 Buick but would fit a Cadillac 75.
He might be worth e-mailing with your question since he may have recent experience. (also, his E-bay name is vsixteen)
You can see the window by going to 1940 Cadillac on E-bay and looking at the completed items.

Mo way, Jose! The Cadillac 75 bodies were unique to Cadillac, and major body parts such as divider windows will not go into them from other body series cars.  The motor-regulator mechanism could possibly be the same as in Cadillacs, but the body on the 75 series cars was never shared with another division.
