Please view the post in the Forum Support forum, it has a poll about making a dark mode (i.e. dark color screens instead of bright white) available. This can be of interest for those that access the forums from a mobile device as dark screens use less battery power. But we need to know whether enough people want this before investing the time to install an extra mode.

Ken

What is the proper torque specs for the head bolts on a V8 LaSalle? What is the proper sequence?

Thanks, Ken

Ken

Or for that matter ANY torque specs. We cant find any torque specs anywhere in the shop manual.

Thanks, Ken

My old Motors Manual states: Rods 50-60, Mains 130-140, Heads, 70-75, and intake, exhaust 25-30. It states  tighten from the center outward  This is common proceedure. Start in the center and work outwards tightening to a lesser torque and working up to the recomended final torque.

Ken, I always torque heads and anything else that has more then one bolt/nut, in steps, say one-third of total torque, then two-thirds, then full value.
Cylinder heads installed with a speed-handle or six-eight inch ratchet will be very loose when the torque wrench is applied.

Yes, start in the center and work in a circle, if it will help, draw a diagram of the head and head bolts to work from.

Good Luck, re-torque after running the engine, Jim
