Have you been hearing any good stuff about Detroit?

Winning isnt everything, but losing sucks.

I lived in Pittsburgh in 1974 where I saw my first 1968 Eldorado, the headlight doors never stayed up, I would always pull them up because the 68 Eldorado was absolutely gorgeous and mean looking.  The Steelers were champions in 74 and won their first Super Bowl in 1975.

Okay, so you guys didnt take the bait.

Who really cares about the football game?  Well I guess Seattle and Pittsburgh do but there are an awful lot of people watching for the halftime show (not so good) the commercials or just to have a reason for a party in January.

How many of you came to the GN in 2002 and had a GREAT time?  Do you remember attending the Wednesday welcome reception at the Ren Cen Wintergarden?  This is the set of tall buildings that had a big Super Bowl banner splashed all over the side.

While at the GN, you may or may not have seen much of "Downtown" but it looked great on TV during the Super Bowl.  I just thought that this was an opportunity to give credit where due.  Good job - Detroit!

Did you know - - - After everyone left the GN, the Lake St. Clair Region (now re-identified as the Motor City Region) received many many notes of appreciation.  So many that they were put in an album.  One international visitor went so far to say that "Detroit was his BEST VACATION EVER".

Detroit (the city) gets bashed A LOT in the press - much of it is really not totally true or deserved.  This was a chance for Detroit to put on a good show and be recognized internationally to people other than car nuts.

Hi Sue,

From what I heard, the city of Detroit went all out for everyone for the Superbowl!

Good job!

Gday Sue,

We had a terrific time in Detroit.

And, even got lost in a "bad" area at night, and had to ask directions.   My passengers were a bit sceptical about asking questions in this area, but I went ahead and asked, even though we were in a Californian Registered 89 Tbird, and were white.

When they heard my golden tones, they came over, and guided us in the right directions, and it was pleasant talking to them.   I think my lack of accent threw them.

Oh, the joys of touring in a foreign Country.

And, the 2002 GN was a great experience, but too hot for me.   The weather, that is.
