Hi Christian,

If I understand what you’re doing, you must disconnect more parts to remove the head. I’m working from memory, so some of this may be a little sketchy.

1.You need to remove the intake and exhaust manifolds and the water crossover pipe at the front of the head.
2.Remove the rocker shaft
3.You should then be able to pull the push rods up and out. They should slide back in the same hole when you reassemble everything. If you have resistance, remove the valley cover to expose the lifter area and be certain there is nothing bent, broken or out of place.
4. You are correct to keep the rockers and push rods in original locations because worn parts may be slightly different.

Hope this helps,
Ralph

C'est le couvercle en tôle qui est tenu par 3 vis au sommet du bloc, entre les 2 culasses et sous la pipe d'admission. Une fois ce couvercle démonté, on voit bien les poussoirs et les problèmes qu'il peut y avoir.

Sorry for writing in French; it was the best way to me to explain what's the cover valley!

Thank you all.
I understand. I am sorry for my english language.
Et en français de plus, c'est super sympathique a vous.

I have no problems with the heat gaskets but I should change the inlet and exhaust manifold gasket, do you think I should change the heat gaskets too.

I don't know if I can ask this question on the forum but I am looking for a rebuilding kit for my power steeringpump,do you know where I can find this kit?I ask to a rebuilder in the USA but he will not sell me this kit.He tell me to send him my pump but if I choose this way the shipping cost are very expensive.I would like to find a rebuilding set before.
Thanks,

Christian

Hi Christian,

Click on the link in my signature below and you will find a long list of Cadillac parts vendors. I can't think of one offhand that sells the kits but I know someone does.

All I can suggest is to work your way down the list. Most of those listed have websites and emails to avoid spending half your life on the phone. Some companies, like McVey's, have pathetically poor websites that don't list 1/10th of the products they carry so don't give up if you don't find it on a company's site.

Good luck.
