Attached are a) an Air Suspension Service Offer b) a Vogue Tire Offer and c) the original Brougham Owners Association Envelope that the offers were sent in.

In point form:

1/ The offer was postmarked August 2, 1963
2/ Both offers were by a Mr Warren A. Stearns from Santa Monica
3/ Interestingly, this is a service center in addition to W.P. "Woody" Wickershaw's "Brougham Owners Service Center" located at 3850 W. 6th St. Los Angeles
4/ Note the comment "Tire will be displayed at next meeting"!!!

I guess because of the 57/58 Brougham's electrical and air suspension problems, specialist servicing sprouted to keep these cars on the road? Also,  because the BOA was located in Los Angeles and because at least two workshops were there to service the Brougham, west coast Brougham owners were possibly more fortunate than the rest of U.S.A.?

I googled Warren Stearns but could not come up with anything. Perhaps someone on the forum might recall something.

I hope these archives are feeding the 57 / 58 Brougham addictions of others as it is for me!

Regards, Ross.

Please find attached the BOA envelope that the offers were sent in.

Sorry for the point form (it's a left brain thing):

1/ The attachment is a scan of an original BOA envelope
2/ It is interesting that the Air Suspension Service and Tire offer were sent using this envelope
3/ The postmark is 2 August, 1963
4/ This is in keeping with a prior post that showed evidence that the BOA might have been formed around 1962
5/ I do not know why the envelope, Addressee Mr. James Stannard, was with the old letters etc that I received -
there is no other link to this person.

Here are a few ideas!

1/ Perhaps Warren Stearns was on the original committee of the BOA - this would account for him having access to the envelopes?
2/ Perhaps the initial impetus of forming the BOA was with "Woody" Wickershaw and Warren Steans et al, ie not owners but mechanics?
3/ I googled Mr James Stannard but could only find a Mr James Stannard who purchased a classic italian car in the early '60's.
4/ I guess it can be presumed that Mr Stannard was a member of BOA and possibly owned a Brougham

Ross -

This is a truly magnificent find.  I have really appreciated all of the information that you have shared to date, and hope that there is still more to come!

I do not (and never will) own a Brougham, but learning about the passion, enthusiasm and history of the people who do (did) own these vehicles is just amazing.

The Brougham owners, even when these cars would have been considered "5 year old used Cadillacs" are a truly special breed.

Many thanks for sharing.

What amazes me is, for $40 you get [at todays price] about $1500 in service to the air suspension, but 4 new tires are 4 times that!! In 1963 dollars, 4 new tires mounted and balanced for $166 is a HUGE amount!!
71 Olds 98 LS, 66 Fairlane 500 XL Convertible, 55 Packard Clipper Super, 58 Edsel Ranger, 72 Cheyenne Super, many 49-60 parts cars, abandoned "House Of Doom" full of 49-60 parts. Huge piles of engine parts, brackets, tin, Hydramatic & Jetaway parts,  thousands of stainless moldings, dozens of perfect sedan doors.

1963 average US income was $5,807.

A new home cost, on average, $12,650 (nuthin' much has changed there!)

A new car averaged $3,233 and gas was .29c per gallon.
