When I received my 1959 CDV I was told there was a crack in the window on the passenger side door glass.  I figured no biggie, these things happen over time.  Whats stumped me is that when I rolled up my drivers side window glass on Saturday there is a nice big single crack going right down the middle of the glass.  It wasn't there before.  Is this a common issue on the 59s?  While I'm fine replacing glass I want to make sure this doesn't happen again in the future.

My 60 CDV driver's window started to delaminate in a small spot about 3 inches in diameter 3 years ago. This year when I pulled the car from storage there was a crack. I suspect it is from age and not necessarily related to the 59-60 model years. I expect to have to replace it at some point. Glad it isn't the windshield.

Does anyone have a vendor that they'd recommend for replacement glass with the correct etchings?  While I usually drive with my windows down both cracks are driving me nuts.

Guys,

My question may seem a bit off, since I live in Calif. (side bar0 - We hate it here, it's wackadoodle, but too old and lazy to move).

When you store your cars for the winters, and maybe the storage isn't heated, could it be the prolonged freezing temperatures that weaken the glass, and particularly when it is tinted and laminated (2 thicknesses of glass).

I just don't know how storage works, and what you do before and after.

Have fun,
