Had my engine in my -72 Deville changed in to a -69 engine.
Did not do any of the job myself.
Got the car back and it don't seem to run powerful, it lacks power when I put the pedal to the floor.
The mechanic says he have done what he can.

But I am wondering over one thing.
Can I rely use the distributor from -72 on an -69 engine?
I was thinking about -72 being the smog engine.

The base timing and timing advance curves are different, you should use the 69 dist and base timing setting.

Quite a difference in the engines IF the '69 is still built to it's original specs.  Compression ratio of 10.5:1 for the '69 Vs. 8.5:1 for the '72.  Use the '69 distributor or have yours re calibrated to the '69 specs, and the '69 carb should be used as well.
