My wife and I purchased this car about 17 years ago with the dream of fixing it up. Well, real life and raising three kids got in the way and it STILL hasn't happened! Realistically, we don't see it happening in the future and painfully I have decided to give it a chance of happening with someone else. I live in Bellingham, WA. That's 90 miles north of Seattle near the Canadian border.

It drove fine when I put it into covered storage all those years ago. It hasn't moved since. Here are some of the specs off of the builder's plate:

Style 08D 62-6723 Body DC 106

Trim 90 Paint 10

The car has 93248 miles, some surface rust, the interior needs work, the exterior has a few small dings and one good thump on the trunk lid (from the previous owner's un-secured trailer tongue that popped up and hit it).Other than that, the body is pretty straight and almost all (98%) of the exterior trim is there and in good shape. It was originally Black but the previous owner also gave it a white re-spray.

One thing, can anyone tell me why it has a '61 front end and a '62 rear end?!? There are so few of these models out there, I can't find out enough about it to determine if this is normal for limos or not.

I could also use some help determining a fair price for selling it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm realistic in knowing it needs work to get it road-worthy and I just want to get it to a good home that WILL save it and get it back on the road where it belongs.

I hope someone, somewhere can rescue this car from it getting parted out - it deserves a better ending...

The limousines often carried some features of the previous year's model to help amortize the cost of tooling due to the low production numbers of the limo. For example, there were only 696 6723s like yours built for 1962.

In this case, however, I think someone just put a '61 bumper on the '62 body. Perhaps it was damaged at some point in it's life.

You can see pictures of other series 67 cars (both '61 and '62 and other years) at Yann Sanders's Cadillac Database, here:

That is more than a '61 bumper up front, the grille is '61 also.  As to why it is that way, my suspicion would be that the car was hit and a '61 front was more readily available and/or cheaper.  Limos did carry body styles over from year to year but I have not heard of one having a front from one year and a rear from another ---- but maybe I am about to learn something new!   ;D

Reminds me of the problems that Jack in NY had with him trying to fit the '61 front on a '62, or was that a '62 front on a '61?

Thanks for the replies, guys. Would any forum members have an educated guess at a reasonable selling price to ask for?

Based on the pics and the fact that it's been sitting for 20 years and doesn't currently run, I'd say $2500 to $3000. It's a solid #5 car.

Cleaned up and running could get it to $4000, maybe.

I agree with Jeff, GM did not put 61 front ends on 62's.  Before purchasing my 61 limo, I looked at a number of 61 and 62 limos and saw no 61 front ends on a 62 limo.  If the car is not operational and the interior needs attention, I would say that you would be lucky to get $1,000.00 for the car.  If you get the car running its value would depend on what trim is missing and how bad the interior is.  If the headliner needs replacement, I would think you would lucky to get $2,000.00 to $2,500.00.  Based upon the estimates I had on the replacement of the headliner on my 61, the cost of replacing the headliner would be more than the value of a #4 car.  Replacing the headliner and interior is not like replacing the interior of a coupe or sedan, it requires much more labor.  However, if you are fortunate to find someone who just has to have one, my estimates would be low.
