68 diff carrier in a 62 housing?

just a quick question that i'm sure someone in cadillac land will know is weather a 68 differential center section will fit a 62 housing
look similiar but reall do not feel like pulling apart to check
i have a real low mileage controlled diff i would like to replace my open diff with

If no one kicks in here an old Hollander exchange book used by salvage yards may have that info, but I believe the axle splines are different and the axles do not interchange.
