I have a cadillac seville that has a trim code  that says SO 1948. Anyone know what this is? I have been researching with out any success.

"SO" indicates a special order interior.  I would bet that 1948 is the body number of the car.  I have a 1956 Fleetwood Sixty Special with Full leather interior and it says "SO 6721."  The car body number is 6721.  There is no documentation available on what the special order was.  It could be as small as contrasting seat piping or a full custom interior as mine.

I'm quite familiar with this model and can like identify what is “SO” about it if you post a photo. SO interiors for assembly line cars always used the same design styles and patterns as the designated model.  Usually  the special order was use of a non standard color combination of that years upholstery offering or fabrics / leather of recent years if the materials were still available. The latter action was often discouraged because the size of the fabric pattern might not be compatible with the newer upholstery design. Additionally, colors were subtly changed year to year and may not look as nice as the customer may think.  In ’57, there were  9 interior options:

Black Leather & White Leather; same sidewalls
Lt Blue Metallic Leather;  same sidewalls
Lt Green Metallic Leather;  same sidewalls
Lt Red Leather & White Leather; same sidewalls
Black/Lt Blue Paisley Cloth & Lt Blue Metallic Leather
Black/Silver Paisley Cloth & White Leather
Black/Copper Paisley Cloth & Copper Metallic Leather
Black/Lt Green Paisley Cloth & Lt Green Metallic Leather
Black/Lt Green Versailles Cloth & Lt Green Metallic Leather
Black/Copper Versailles Cloth & Copper Metallic Leather

More than likely, your interior is something like “Black/Lt Blue Paisley Cloth  with White leather”….a non standard combination of available ’57 choices. It’s also possible the customer liked a ’57 DeVille fabric or something from  the ’56 upholstery offering. A photo would be helpful.
