I do think the market is still soft.   With the economy and unemployment where it is, not to mention gas is still too damn expensive,  I think the average Joe car collector is hurting.     The Barrett Jacksom crowd will always have plenty of money to keep buying and selling for their huge collections of over-restored cars.

I agree that large photos in nice settings do help sell cars.   Although your listing is fine to me.   I think we are talking in general.      I watch internet auctions daily.    I have seen some really nice cars with small, mediocre photos get relisted over and over.  And often at a reasonable price.   A few of those cars were relisted by a broker in Lakeland Florida and relisted for double the original asking price.    How?    They detail the heck out of the car and take an amazing amount of detailed photos of the cars in a pleasant setting.  So sometimes it pays to consign your car thru someone like that who can get top dollar for you.

This 75 Fleetwood has been on Ebay at least three times over the last few years up in Detroit.  The original photos were small and the car was sitting in a backlot of an innercity building.

The original ad pics:

Now look at the listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NO-RESERVE-ELEGANT-RARE-INTERIOR-1975-Cadillac-Fleetwood-Brougham-45K-MI-/180913409606?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2a1f478e46

Big difference eh?    The guy in Lakeland takes the best photos on ebay!   He knows how to pick a setting and how to get the best features on camera.     I'd love to send my car down there to get detailed and photographed.   I try to save as many of his pics as possible as they make great reference photos for collectors with questions.  Not to mention drool over.

But to go back to the original comment,   I think your car photographs very well.   Especially like the green shrubbery to compliment the cars color.    It is a nice car and as you said, no reason to give it away.

David,

Well put and what a change!  Hard to believe it is the same car.  Even the scary interior came out looking better. It is worth the staging effort if you are going to sell .  The market is soft but I too notice the cars that seem to find new homes, have gone the extra mile in staging the surroundings and using better cameras that show the detail on the subject car. In another recent E Bay ad for an Eldorado, the sun angle was so bad that the rear part of the concave trunk lid on a 6x Eldo looked like it was painted black!

With great sadness (and sellers remorse) the car is sold
($5000 no deposit yet...but they assure me its on the way)   I dont think I will
ever find another one like this for the price I got it and the condition.
and I am kicking myself for letting it go for that price.

But I buy these to sell them and cant let my emotional
feelings get in the way.  I had a connection with this
car that I never had before.....blah blah blah.....

the hunt for
the next one continues..........I found this one (68 Deville convertible)
may be a little too expensive to make a profit

Rob Troxel

Congratulations!  You will get another I'm sure.  I also like the 68 converts though hard to find them restored at a good price.

Thanks for the congrats but it feels more like a funeral.  This car was great and
and I really could have held out for more, but this is after all a business and the train
has to keep moving.  I have already located a couple of other ones that look pretty
good.   Its gonna be hard to top this one.

As I said I Have owned a few of these (67 Crystal firemist w/ black interior & headrests.  70 dark walnut w/tan
67 Marina Blue w/blue....just resold on ebay a few months ago.....70 White w/black int & 70 dark green w /black
And this the 69....The best of them all).    I usually clean them, make sure they are running in top shape and make
sure all emblems and trim are in place and then sell then on ebay or once in a while will go
with craigslist.

My love of these vehicles is why I do this.  I feel these cars are way undervalued compared to toronado's & rivera'a
and hope one day they will be where they need to be value wise.

This 69 was a  $7000 - $8000 all night.  I feel that I may NOT have helped boost the  over all value of the 67-70
Eldo by letting this one go at  that price.  Its a buyers market right now so it is what it is

Anyway,  gonna call this guy on this 1970 Lanai green with black interior and see where he is
on price.

Wow!     I have more than $5000 in receipts for work done on mine since I bought it last fall.

I know Dave.....I know........Way to kick a man when he is down (LOL)

Believe it or not I still made a profit.  Once the dust settles on this one
the next one is on deck (stay tuned)   Also found a nice 79 Seville that
Im thinking about.  (sunroof & digital Dash)  BUT I have heard the
digital dash cars are a problem.   But its the 67-70 ELDO that is my main
focus.   As I said its a deadly obsession.

Rob Troxel

I must hand it to you in buying the car right to begin with. A profit is a word I hear very little.  Like Dave Smith, I am in investment and repairs,  way over any realistic sales price I could get >>but that all slides to the back of my mind when I make a 100 mile  round trip drive to Lake Geneva Wisconsin.  My 68 is such a fine road commander.
