Hello !
my 69 caddy deville cruise control appears to have a problem

the speed on the dial doesnt correspond to the speed on the cruise dial.

i have tried adjusting the cable to the factory specs several time to no avail

i noticed that the bush on the power  unit output lever under the bonnet is badly worn - could this be the problem ?

has anyone out there rebuilt one of these power units /

thanks , Murray Mules

Did you adjust the thumb wheel as described in the shop manual?  Maybe the thumb wheel is not tight enough and is slipping, and thus the cable won't move in sync with the wheel.

If you unplug the cable from the power unit, and apply the set button, the car should cruise at 25 mph. If not then the power unit needs adjusted.

Does the car maintain the speed it does set at? If so, then the problem is in the cable or switch assembly.

A worn bushing would most likely cause the speed to vary more, not staying constant. But the speed should still stay close to the set speed.
