Not my vehicle nor do I have any info on the sale.  Just figured it was something interesting.

Interesting, no doubt.  However, I do not know that it is $25K interesting?

Needs 20 to 40 K in restoration and would end up with 45 t0 65 K in a hard to sell item.

Pretty cool.   From those pictures it looks like it was well done.

Yeah it does look like it was put together pretty well but the price does seem pretty high.

Agreed.   It looks well done.   But $25K is what it might get if restored.  not before.

I like the looks of it.  There was a caddy pickup used as a tow vehicle in the movie about the African American racer which starred Richard Prior if I remember correctly...was it "greased lightening?"  I have thought about building a caddy pickup ever since.

I like the custom built caddy wagons too.

I have had a couple caddy hearses back in my youth.

There is a kid that works at a local parts store that has got a 90 something grand prix sedan that he has been turning into a truck sort of thing over the summer.   At first it was pretty rough looking but last time I saw it he was getting more of the finish work done and it was starting to look decent.  It looks like he cut the roof around the rear doors then moved it forward to mate with the front doors.  Trunk lid is gone.  I imagine that is the way to start out.  Get a car that is common and not worth much, like perhaps what a 49 in 59?  And see what you can do.  If you mess up you can just go get another till you get it right.

Just for fun I answered his ad and commented that a restorable 49 and all of the components could be bought for 2 to 4 thousand and restoration would be 20 to 40 thousand either way so he was way too high. Cute but way too high. Restoration costs a lot more than most people think and thats why there are partially restored cars for sale all of the time

:o how about a lincoln truck ?     what about this look ? chrome reverse with baldies , fat blackwall coopers, dummy spots, nameplate, dual exaust with smithys and chrome tips ,some etching, stainless arches,?

TJ Hopland

I like the back of the Lincoln.  The lines of the front don't quite work for me but it is still neat.

neat truck, reminds me of the old studebaker and hudson pickups

can definitely see the 49-50??  chevy pick up lineage in the rear cab windows and bed

This is my latest "project"- it's a 1979 "Paris"- a Coupe deVille conversion done by a quality coach works and marketed (circuitously) through Cadillac dealers.  There were a documented 200 made, and only about 3 are still in existence.  I'll post the "rebirth" as it progresses.

This is a pretty appealing truck, seems well done. I like it minus the skirt on the rear wheel. But the money would have to come waaaaay down on this thing.

To me the full Caddy rear fender is the most elegant part! ;)  What is a 49 Caddy anyway without the rear fender skirt?
