I am selling my 1980 Fleetwood.  I bought the car from the original owner's estate 5 yrs ago.  Car has 78k original miles.  I have replaced the following while I have had the car: Radiator, alternator, battery, headliner, bumper fillers, and just converted the AC.  The dash and the steering wheel woodgrain are not cracked.  Car has been garaged all it's life.  It's a very straight original car.  The car is located in Orlando FL.  I am asking 3500 OBO.  Email is g27g28@aol.com if interested.  Thanks

This car has the 4.9?
When did they start putting in the 5.0?

Is the 5.0 a different engine than the 4.9? Or similar, just bigger?

1980 should have the 6.0 engine.   If it is a gas version that is.

Ya for 80 standard engine for that car was the 6.0/368 with a 4bbl carb.   The Eldo's got the DEFI version.  Optional was the 5.7 diesel.  The 368 was the final version of the 472/500/425 and what they added stuff to in 81 to make the infamous V8-6-4.  Was still an all cast iron engine so it was not terribly efficient or powerful for its physical size and weight but much more reliable than what was to come.   Transmission was still the old THM400, again a little big and outdated but reliable compared to what came next.  Many people say this was the last true 'good' Cadillac drive train.

The next engine in the Cadillac line was the HT4100 which was 4.1.   Late 80's the 4100 turned into the 4.5 and early 90's into the 4.9 that was last used in some models in 95.    The 5.0 was an Oldsmobile that went into the Brougham which was the old style boxy RWD car after the rest of the line went to the smaller transverse FWD.  91-92 after the Oldsmobile was discontinued there was a 5.0 Chev available in the Brougham's before they settled on the Chev 5.7.
