Hello jope everyone is doing good My car runs but have noticed that allot of the cloth on the wires under the dash are showing and the slightest touch sends a ash of cloth into my eyes haha. I was wondering were is a good place to get a wire harness and can a person as my self working as a home goolge and youtube mechanic hahah  install this my self. how hard is it to do ?? i think it would make a great up grade to my car and get things that never worked or never hooked up working again ! Thank you everyone for your time Jason

Hello Jason

Glad to read you are improving your Cadillac.

Try Rhode Island Wiring Harness.
All good men own a Cadillac but great gentlemen drive a LaSalle. That is the consequence of success.

Basically two major suppliers of custom harness's.  YNZ in California and R I or Rhode Island in of course Rhode Island.  The way they work is they lay your wiring out on a table and measure and duplicate it.  If anybody has ever used either one of them for your model they will have a blueprint in their files.  I think they are about the same prices $$$++    I have one on order for my LaSalle and it is about $1300 as I recall.

I would prefer to buy it from a supplier that does not need mine for  a pattern because then I can restring the new one as I take the old one out not worrying about forgetting anything or making mistakes.

I know  Rhode Island is good as I have used them before and I also have heard that YNZ is also very good.   Google will give you their websites and prices I think.  Any option is extra like A C or heater for models that had no heater.

I vote for YNZ,i installed one of theirs in my 37 60 series,it was very easy to do and was super exact as to lenth and where the wires went, directions are a little vauge, but when you realize how it is explained,i still have my directions if you would like a copy,i could fax them to you, will give you an idea as to what you are infor. When I had it all hooked up everything worked as it should,it is not for the non-mechanically inclined as there is some soldering on the headlight terminals. Thanks Harvey

I am sure YNZ is a fine company as is R I.   I have used R I Because they had the diagrams to produce what I wanted at the time. They even had bulb sockets in the dash wiring to plug into the dashboard.

I am sure you would be happy with either of them.

I feel the same as you. Another I have heard good things about is Harnesses unlimited. http://harnesses-unlimited.com/

I haven't used any of these, I decided to make my own harness and it works great and cost less than $100.00 but is not a job for the faint of heart.

I have used 3 harnesses from Rhode Island and have had no problems. Here is what someone told me before I changed my first harness. Don`t get in a big hurry to take out the old harness. Wait until you get the new harness. Lay the new harness on the ground in front of the car as you would expect the harness to be positioned on the engine side of the dash and as well as on the inside under the dash. Rhode Island has each wire coded with a number and that number appears on the instruction sheet that comes with the new harness. Compare the numbers and the function of each wire on the new harness with the corresponding wires on the old harness. Compare the old harness and the new harness as to where you will feed the new harness through the firewall and then determine which end of the harness is the first to go through the firewall. Take pictures of the old harness as it appeared on the engine side of the firewall and pictures as best you can under the dash.

I have no experience with a 37 but the 41-48 engine/dash harness is connected to the body harness with a male-female type connector, half the connector on each harness. Ask who ever makes up your harness if they have attached to their harness a compatible half of that connector or do they need you to cut off your old half of the engine/dash connector to send to them for your new harness.   Bill
