Looking for an individual or shop who can service a '54 Hydromatic transmission.  Mine was working fine, but I have it and the motor out right now, so it would probably be foolish not to get it serviced while it's out.  I'm in central Connecticut so anywhere within a couple hours drive would be fine.
Thanks, Bob

Unfortunately, I know a guy in Michigan who works on  transmissions, and is the only person that I'll let touch my transmissions. he works for Hydra-Matic at the GM proving ground, and has a jeweler mentality. He has done several transmissions for me over the past years, from Hydra-Matics to my Jeep. Like all, or most trans guys, he's not in love with the Jetaways (which yours is not).

Probably, your transmission needs only a seal kit installed. Those things come from Gordon Automotive, in Pontiac, Mich.

I suppose that if you can't find a guy locally, you could crate and ship the trans here to the guy. He lives in Lake Shannon, Michigan.

Depends on what you mean by "service". They usually just change the fluid and filter. If it's removed from the car that's pretty easy to do yourself. If you mean a reseal, then it's definitely a good time to do it since they would have to remove it to do that and R&R is what costs the most and the filter , if so equipped, would get changed at the same time.

I was pointed in the direction of a guy in Portchester, NY who has experience with hydromatics. He ordered a overhaul kit from fatsco and I should have everything back  in a few days.  Now just to get the motor back from the machine shop so I can put it all back together and test everything out.

Here's a picture he sent me after he had it a few days!  I was shocked, didn't expect him to go so in-depth.
