I have to order a repair manual for the car but thought I might ask in the meantime.

I just got my 59 running and prior to intalling the engine the wipers/dash lights/turn signals worked. Now they do not.

Only thing I changed electrically was installing an alternator in place of the generator. Do any of the original wires connected to the generator power the items that no longer work?

Thanks for any help!

Jim,

You can download the electrical diagram from this site;

Part 1
http://www.auto-wiring-diagram.com/4278-wiring-diagram-for-1959-cadillac-all-series-part-1.html

Part 2
http://www.auto-wiring-diagram.com/4282-wiring-diagram-for-1959-cadillac-all-series-part-2.html

These are two parts left and right side.

If you swap the original generator to an alternator your electrical problems will not be tied to the change, most likely it will be a main feed +12V that is open.

With the diagram(s) at least you can trace were the source of the open for each of them may be.

Good luck..!

Thank you!!! Much appreciated  :)

Edit- Looks like the pink wire from the ignition switch supplies the section of the fuse block that powers the wiper motor, turn signal flasher and instrument cluster so that's where I will start
