59 Caddy, a rough life

My second 59 Caddy, and still an adventure. Got my first when I was young, a serious rust bucket, one of many cars that my Dad scrapped from under me...

Loved my Dad, but never appreciated that. But that is probably the reason that I am so hard headed when it comes to Zoning, I just will not tolerate anyone telling me what I can own and what I can't own. And just as equally, such is probably the reason I fix things that people tell me are not fixable.

Well I finally got another 59, so I'm happy. And she is certainly rough, but I don't care, she is mine. Wrecked, rusted, cut up roof, n wrong parts, another adventure begins.

JB,
You are a man after my own heart.
The fun is in the doing and the more there is to do the more fun.
Post many pictures - don't be stingy - we want to go on the adventure too.
Need help, ask ?'s.
Have fun,

Got tons of pix, no problem there. This is the roof hanging down where someone cut her up. Looks like they were trying to make an El Camino out of her.

Removing some of the bad paint, n began straining the roof.

Nice Car!!! This is the kind I like to watch come back. the ones that most people say why bother, I say why not.

Ken, sounds like your place is a slice of Heaven. Lots of cars myself. I do enjoy them all. She does have some rust too, but just a few nasty holes.
n Sheldon, thanks, she deserves some TLC.

Here is a pick with one of my other girls, but notice the rust on the hood. Not bad rust, but looks terrible in pictures.

And this I shot this morning, notice the front of the hood, talk about cleaning up beautifully. The metal was perfect under that nasty rust. Still have the rest of the hood to strip n paint as the paint is all cracked. No more ruined photos from that angle.

Awh, a little rust never hurt a car photo...

Rust hurts, just some of us can see the beauty that can be brought back. Beautiful Eldy. One of the reasons I moved to the Desert, I can work at my pace without abut the rust getting ahead of me.

Nice find! I was going to ask what part of the country you lived but it must be in the high desert? I wished I lived out.

Ya, I'm on the outskirts of Vegas. But still to close to civilization. It use to be cool for us car lovers here, but to many people have moved in. Now the Ex Post Facto government is stealing and destroying car collections. They have come after mine a couple of times, but so far, I survive. Did loose a couple while they were at a friends when they took his collection. My 49 Ford, n my 69 Torino Fastback.

Bravo to You. I hate the two faced government always telling people how to live. I also hate jerks who subject us to looking at their foreign junk in their driveways and having to listen to their loud mufflers while they warm their hands over their 30  mpg silver , white , or black little rolling boxes while they try desperately to have our American Heritage crushed and destroyed. One Mans opinion.

BIGTOM

I'm right there with you guys! Used to live in a subdivision where you couldn't even park the 1-2 year old car you're driving in front of your own house! I live on 4 acres 10 miles north of town in the Midwest and nobody is around to complain! Truth be told, I only have one vehicle resting on the SW corner behind a big cedar tree... I still have a wife and as long as she doesn't "have to look at them" she's happy. A happy wife = a happy life!!!

Hi Dave,

Great project car. Please run a blog on your restoration. We all enjoy them.

As to neighborhood rules and protocol I had to buy a few acres out of town to get by with my cars and my business also generated a lot of traffic with subcontractors, employees, vendors, and sometimes even customers. I had great neighbors but as the business grew I knew I had to move. I bought a property with a couple of summer cabins and used one for an office and added on to the other one and still live there 27 years later.
