Im trying to remove my water pump on my 79 Eldorado of which power steering pump is attached to. All I need is to move the the pump aside a bit to clear the water pump bolts without removing PS unit completely. However it seems that the main support bracket is attached to the
engine mount which is on super tight, Im afraid if I remove this bolt the engine might move and I will never get the bolt back in or worse the
bolt break right off. The car has the 5.7 Olds engine.  Also the water pump has four studs for to hold fan. Are these studs removable or do you
buy 4 new ones when buying pump. Any tips much appreciated. Gene

I did one of those a couple years ago and do remember some of the power steering bolts were a big pain but I don't remember any issues related to the engine mounts.    I changed the mounts in one last year and don't remember having to touch anything to do with the power steering so I don't think you should have any issues with a bolt holding the pump holding the engine in.  The bottom of the mount has a stud that goes through the frame and the top has a bolt that threads through a bracket into the mount.  My guess is the bolt you are dealing with in the mount goes into this bracket.  That bracket is kinda a U shape that goes under the oil pan and attached to the block on both sides.   Earlier there was a single front mount, later like the photos there were 2 but the bracket on the engine was similar.

The studs in the water pumps are used with clutch fans, the solid or flex fans use bolts.  They ship them with nothing just in case you have a solid fan.   If the new one didn't come with studs just thread on 2 nuts and tighten them together to remove the stud from the old pump and get em on the new one.
