You really aught to proof read what you write so people can figure out what you are asking for.

sorry on my way out the door

Under the hood of this 1938 Lasalle, I have two cables that come through the fire wall, They are just hanging there and not connected to any thing, I was wondering what are they supposed to be hooked up to?

Here's a thought.  Look under the dash and trace them back to whatever the cables are connected to on the inside.

I think they are likely manual choke and throttle

I think Jims right. One is probably the Throttle cable for fast cold idle and the other may have been where someone removed the auto choke and fitted a manual cable, that too now disconnected. First thing should have been what tripwire suggested and traced them back to which knob in the car they are connected to.

Both pull knobs are in middle of dash and are not label. Could one be possible a heater cable ?

Steve Passmore

There would have been no heater cable. You had the electric switch and have to manually open the doors on the heater box,  One of the cables would have been the fast idle. Also under the radio grill would have been the cigar lighter but as I said they all get changed over the years, mine did.

Here is the dashboard layout for a 38 LaSalle, as others have mentioned there is only one cable through the firewall and that for the throttle the only other thing would be the armored cable from the switch to the coil.  I think, as Jim said, someone probably added a manual choke for some reason.

Thanks for posting that Tom. I searched high and low for that layout but must have let it go with my car. Have put that in my records now.
