Hello out there .

I have a 69 cad and the woodgrain insert has come away from the steering wheel and also needs cleaning - there

is green lookin stuff on it - pls see pics attached .

Q. what is the best stuff to get the green off and what is the best type of glue to stick the insert back into the steering wheel  ?

I don't want to use a permanent glue in case I need to take it out again . Would clear silicone be ok ?

hello ! I have added a few more pictures of the wheel and parts .

Q. What is the best product to use to remove black stuff from the wheel / horn rim blow /  without damaging it ?

     maybe kerosene ??

Q and would contact cement be suitable to glue the parts back to gether ?

thanks , Murray Mules

The green stuff exudes from the plastic...it's a plasticizer i think. 69 was a unique 'rim blow' wheel, you could squeeze the rim and sound the horn.

Just the wood grain? I would use a premium clear epoxy, but that s permanent.. Securing it with zip ties* until dry.

*Disconnect your battery so the horn does not go off!
