Hello Joe,

I see that no one has responded to your post.  I live in Maryland, so I am unable to recommend a shop near you.  I don't know whether you have considered rebuilding the distributor yourself, but you might want to read about my '67's distributor rebuild here, on this forum's Restoration Corner section:

You may need to scroll down to get to replies 46 and 47.  Good luck.

If you have an auto one near you it's only about $45 with a $5 core charge. But that's for a 68. Rock auto have then for $68 with a $14 core charge. Auto zone for a 66-67 is $60 with a 420 core charge. So you have options.

Joe,

Feel bad that it took a while to receive an answer.  To better help all it is recommended that you always start with the year make and quick description of problem in title.  For your example, it might have received an answer quicker with "1966 Cadillac local shop to rebuild distributor", or "1966 Cadillac Distributor".  That way people who are more knowledgeable in a certain year range of Cadillacs can help you best.  For example the oldest Cadillac I worked on was a 1966 and the newest is a 1982, but would put my field of knowledge most solid from 1968 thru 1976.  Many other contributors seem to operate the same way.

The general agreement to your answer is probably just best to buy a rebuilt one, as I have done on all three of my 1970 Cadillacs and over 40k driven miles later they still work well.  However, Chris did rebuild his own, and that may be the best way to get a quality job.

Enjoy your Cadillac!
