I was just told this mechanism came from a 1984 Calais..
Any help on finding a replacement is greatly appreciated..
Or perhaps a source for after market power window kits...
Thanks again

The Cadillac Calais was built from 1965 to 1976, before that the Calais was the "62 series".  Perhaps you are talking about an Oldsmobile Calais?  Last year for the Olds Calais was 1991.  Your '52 has flat side glass and it is mounted differently than the curved side glass of 1965 and newer.  So that regulator you have should be pre-1965.

What is wrong with yours, is the motor "bad"?  Replacement motors are available, probably as close as your nearest NAPA or eBay.  GM used the same motors for years after going to electric window lift motors.  Oft times those motors can be disassembled and the old hardened grease cleaned out of the gearbox, and with fresh grease they work like new.

Be VERY careful if you take the old motor and gearbox off, that mechanism is spring loaded and when the motor and gearbox are removed that window "scissors" mechanism can do MAJOR damage to a finger(s).  Proper way is to drill a 1/4 inch hole through the two flat pieces and bolt them together so they can't move before doing any other work.

There are MANY power window kits on the aftermarket, try Googling aftermarket universal power windows and go from there.  Here is one of the best --- http://www.specialtypowerwindows.com/
There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Mental Illness".  Dave Barry.   I walk that line.

Thank you
Perhaps that is what he meant, as I found the same with the dating of caddy Calais, the original motor was very slow and would not push window up after the redo on the glass...so I found a reasonably priced one on EBAY, works well, but the the issue..” according to my my mechanic “ is he said there is too much play in the scissors very “wobbly” is best I can described what he showed...
I did come across the specialty pwr window company and spoke to them today, they have a universal kit that they said should work, I send the same photos to them..
Thx for that tip...assume my guy knows that since they are not my fingers doing the work and he looked fine after finishing, but since he did install we heard some “clunking” in the corporate as it went up or down..but now it won’t go all the way up..so someth8ng is not right..and they DID NOT use any felt on glass ...it is just sitting in the track...which is what they found when they took it apart, but he said he said he would do it correctly???!!!
The painful part is taking all trim parts off door...but hey he signed on to do work and I paid what he wanted...
Stay tuned
