US Royal Tyres

Hi All,
I am slowly resorting my 58 Eldorado Brougham down here in Australia. Parts, info and advice aren't readily available here as you could imagine. Would really appreciate some answers to the following questions. Thanks, Peter

What type/size tyre were the 57-58 Eldorado Brougham produced with.
We are aware it was a special order US Royal, low profile with a 1" whitewall.

The closest that we can find to match the original style is Coker's US Royal, 8.40 by 15 with a 1" whitewall.

Also what was the tread width on the original US Royal and is there a good close up picture of an original tyre somewhere.

The original tyre size was 840/15 (corrected) moreover the whitewall was 1 inch as you thought. I have purchased 820 x 15 (black wall or reversed) and had the 1” whitewall ground into it. This is a special process. We had one original spare and I ‘might’ have an image of it? I’ll look. Last image is modified 8:20 x 15

I have some brougham parts avail. Some vanity, Including a vanity case, clear cup holder. Door ‘open’ springs.

That is the correct tire size according to the owner's manual and 1" is the proper WW width. The Coker reproduction is probably the closest thing there is to original spec on the market today.

I have been told that Coker are out of stock. Can you suggest another distributor  (preferably in LA) that may stock an 840/820 US royal 1" white wall?

Diamond Back could probably make a tire in a radial....

I would agree that Diamondback is a great choice for driving performance and looking reasonably close to OE, but that may not be what you want.

For an OE look tire in that size, Coker may be it.  Performance Plus Tire (https://www.performanceplustire.com/products/ts:820-15:ty:Antique/) has some choices in 820-15, including 1" whitewall, if you can handle the size difference.  Other typical places to check include Lucas (https://www.lucasclassictires.com/) and Universal (https://www.universaltire.com/), but I do not see that size or anything close listed.
