I was wondering if anyone knew of any 1940 Lasalle convertible sedans for sale.  I am interested in either a 50 or 52.

I would prefer a nice driver or older restoration.

Thanks!

Out of curiosity, what are these going for? I’m purchasing a 1940 -50 coupe convertible from my grandparents. It’s complete, but a project. Body work is done (needs paint). Other then that everything is in boxes.. thank you!

I am a 1932 ford guy and do not know much about Cadillacs. I was driving my '32 yesterday and found a 1939 Cadillac convertible sedan in a garage. The car looks like it has not been out of the garage for at least 30 years. It is absolutely rust free and in nice condition. The top (not original) needs to be replaced ( it is not torn, but has shrunk), the leather seats are good. It might have had one repaint, but was hard to tell because of the dust on the car. I did not open the hood or trunk - I did not want to be too forward at this point.
I have to assume that all mechanicals need to be refreshed. I am interested in purchasing this car, but have no idea of what to offer. Can you give me an approximate idea of what the car might be worth in this condition?

Please respond to my email. Thanks

Kyle, just my opinion off the top of my head without seeing it, in the $5,000-$10,000 range. That car finished in #1 condition is $40,000 to $50,000.  Anyone else is welcome to chime in with disagreements.

Mr. Gee, Those are rare but it seems there is always one for sale either in Hemmings or the Self Starter. (CLC magazine)

Hi Tom,

Thank you very much for your reply.  I keep seeing the blue one for sale, however it appears to be overpriced for it's current condition.  I missed out on a very nice 50 series in Iowa which sold for under $25k through Facebook.  From what I have seen, I have to agree, for rare cars, they seem to change hands fairly frequently.  There isn't anything in the issue of Hemmings I have on hand and I haven't been a member of the club for quite a while as other interests have intervened.

Thank you again for your tips.
